Jane Brewster: Painting

Drawing pictures filled endless hours as an only child growing up in the French Quarter, and Jane’s mother and grandparents encouraged it. Art was the lifeline that helped her survive, and she created her first business logos while working at a print shop in the 1980s. A few years later, she earned a B.A. in graphic design, working in digital and traditional media. As the industry waned, Jane went freelance - painting signs for businesses, murals, designing ads, logos, and illustrating stories. In 2003 her return to New Orleans led to making connections in the artist community. Jane designed limited edition posters for the Bayou Boogaloo, the Satchmo SummerFest, and the Algiers Tricentennial, and more. She creates custom watercolor paintings for clients, and also worked as a prop designer and set decorator for movies and television shows filmed in New Orleans. Jane’s work is on display at RHINO Contemporary Crafts Company gallery. She can be contacted through her website at www. janebrewster.com.
